On April 26, the first phase was held at the Macau campus of the Faculty of Medicine, featuring six examination stations. Fourteen experienced clinical faculty members acted as examiners, evaluating students on their knowledge and clinical skills in internal medicine, surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, communication skills, and technical procedures. Each station followed detailed scoring guidelines.

The second phase took place on April 30 at the Fifth Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University in Zhongshan, with seven examination stations. The exam team comprised 30 professionals, including overseas and Hong Kong-based experts, faculty members from MUST, and physicians from the Fifth Affiliated Hospital. Students performed various physical examinations on standardized patients as instructed by the examiners and engaged in discussions with them. During the exam, all departments ensured strict adherence to the exam protocols, successfully completing the organizational tasks and evaluating students’ knowledge and clinical skills.
What is the Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE)?
Students were guided to prepare outside the exam room, where they had one minute to read the posted exam questions. Each OSCE station lasted a total of 7 minutes, with 6 minutes allocated for examining a real patient and 1 minute for two-way feedback. The stations rotated according to a set schedule, and examiners observed and objectively scored each student’s performance. The OSCE effectively tested students’ abilities in history taking, physical examination, communication, case explanation, and clinical management, while also assessing their overall clinical competence.
