On June 6th and 7th, the Faculty of Medicine conducted the 2023/2024 clinical examinations for Year 1, 2, and 3 students enrolled in the Bachelor of Medicine (General Practice) program. The exams were administered using the Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) format. Several full-time faculty members served as examiners, assessing students' medical knowledge and clinical skills based on detailed scoring criteria for each station. A total of 22 standardized patients participated across the three clinical exams, assisting with physical examination assessments.

What is the Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE)?

Students were guided by staff to prepare outside the examination rooms, where they had one minute to read the exam questions posted on the door. Each OSCE station lasted a total of 7 minutes, including 6 minutes for performing a physical examination on a real patient, followed by 1 minute of two-way feedback. The stations were rotated according to a predefined schedule, with examiners observing and objectively scoring each student's performance. The OSCE effectively tested students' abilities in patient history taking, physical examination, communication skills, case explanation, and clinical management, while also evaluating their overall clinical competence.
