The Medical Sciences Division Laboratories

The establishment of the Medical Sciences Division (MSD) brings the considerable strengths of the School of Pharmacy and Faculty of Chinese Medicine together with the Faculty of Medicine, working closely with the University Hospital and the State Key Laboratories. All of these strengths and success has to be matched with research infrastructure resources in order to maximize the impact and momentum generated by the talent and hard work of the MSD academics, to take medical research at MUST to the next level. In 2023, MUST established the Liu’s Innovation and Technology Center (LITC) in Coloane as a research hub to bring together cross-disciplinary expertise in medicine, artificial intelligence and engineering.

The MSD Laboratories within the LITC are supported by four core facilities specializing in genetics, imaging, molecules and nanotechnology, and cell biology. In addition to these core facilities, our research infrastructure includes Macau’s first Clinical Trial Center, the Macau Institute for Artificial Intelligence in Medicine and the Center for Precision and Regenerative Medicine. These cutting-edge facilities are equipped with specialized instruments and technologies, fostering an environment conducive to innovation and groundbreaking discoveries.
