BPAZ0001 Fundamentals in Chinese Medicine (3 credits)
This course is a basic discipline of the theoretical framework and knowledge of traditional Chinese medicine. This course mainly teaches the students about the characteristics of traditional Chinese medicine theory system, the traditional theory of traditional Chinese medicine (including traditional Chinese medicine four gas flavors, classification, toxicity, etc.), Compatibility theory and taboo of traditional Chinese medicine, the principle of prescription of traditional Chinese medicine, and the representatives of classic prescriptions.The course will helpthe students get familiar with and understand the theoretical characteristics of traditional Chinese medicine, master the principles and methods of the practical application and compatibilityof Chinese medicine.
BPAZ0002 Fundamental Chemistry (2 credits)
Fundamental Chemistry, one of the basic natural sciences, studies the composition, structure, properties and variation of substances. Fundamental chemistry, closed to society, life, production, science and technology, is the most basic subject of pharmacy. The main contents of this course include the most basic knowledge of chemistry: atomic structure, periodic table, chemical bond, chemical quantity, chemical reaction energy change, chemical reaction rate and balance, redox reaction, element compound knowledge, metal and alkali metal, organic compounds, carbohydrate, and protein, etc.
BPAZ0003 Fundamental Chemistry – Laboratory (1 credits)
Fundamental Chemistry - Laboratory is one of the most basic experimental courses of pharmacy. This course mainly includes the preparation of the solution, the influence of the concentration on the chemical balance, the neutralization titration, the examination of the halogen ion, the properties of metal, alkali metal and their compound, the preparation and characteristic of ethylene, ethyl acetate and phenolic resin, the characteristic of carbohydrate, protein, and cellulose, etc.
BPAZ0004 Anatomy & Physiology (3 credits)
Anatomy and physiology is an important basic subject of traditional biology and medicine research. The curriculum will explain the basic structure of the human body, including the molecular structure, bone, muscle, nerve, endocrine, cardiovascular, lymphatic, respiratory, digestive, urinary and reproductive system, to understand the organization and system structure, Functional characteristics, association with other organ systems and related diseases. And the students will have a concrete and basic understanding of the structure and operation of the human body.
BPAZ0005 Anatomy & Physiology – Laboratory (1 credits)
Anatomy and physiology - Laboratory is an important basic experimental course of traditional biology and medicine. This course will introduce the common instruments and equipments of anatomy and physiology experiment; experimental basic knowledge and operation technique; the morphological structure of each organ; the observation method of cell and tissue, the tissue biopsy specimen, the experiment sample; the preparation of biopsy specimens, the preparation of commonly used experimental solutions; and the preparation of experimental reports and precautions by the experiment demonstration and the play the teaching media film. Those will help the students to understand experimental techniques of the human structure, anatomy and physiology.
BPAZ0006 Fundamental Chemistry for Pharmaceutics (3 credits)
Fundamental Chemistry for Pharmaceutics, composed of inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry and physical chemistry, is a basic course for all chemistry as well as an important basics for pharmacy courses. The main contents of this course include: chemical safety and hazards, the periodic table, chemical bonds, coordination chemistry, chemical thermodynamics, chemical equilibrium, redox reactions, stereochemistry, common chemical functional groups and properties, biological oxidation and reduction and elimination of organic compounds, characterization of organic compounds, database and information inquiries, knowledge about pharmaceutical and biomedical sciences, etc.
BPAZ0007 Fundamental Chemistry for Pharmaceutics – Laboratory (1.5 credits)
Fundamental Chemistry for Pharmaceutics - Laboratory is a basic experimental course of CMM. This course mainly includes organic synthesis reaction and experimental expertise of basic organic as well as physical and structure identification which are relevant to pharmaceutical and biomedical sciences.
BPAZ0008 Biochemistry & Molecular Biology (3 credits)
The purpose of the course is to give a basic understanding of biochemistry and molecular biology to undergraduate students, and let them learn more about biochemical theory and the interrelationships of molecular by different life and medical instance. First, the course introduces the interrelationships of cells and molecular, and then explains the important elements such are amino acids, proteins and enzymes which constitute a complete system in simple language, and thus inspire students to learn the relation of disease and varies of proteins and enzymes.

The purpose of the course is to help students to learn biochemistry and molecular biology preliminary, and enable students to understand the biochemical theory and the interrelationships of molecular by topical experiments. BPAZ0010 Phytochemistry of Chinese Medicines (4 credits)
Phytochemistry of Chinese Medicines, a basis course of pharmacy, studies the bioactive substances in Chinese medicines by using the chemical theories and methods and other modern scientific theories and technologies. This course mainly includes the basic theories and methods of extraction, separation, analysis and structure identification of various types of chemical constituents in Chinese medicines as well as the application of new technologies and methods. These are the foundation of the quality control of Chinese medicines and developing new drugs.
BPAZ0011 Phytochemistry of Chinese Medicines – Laboratory (1.5 credits)
Phytochemistry of Chinese Medicines - Laboratory is an experimental course to cooperate with Phytochemistry of Chinese Medicines. This course is the foundation of pharmacy and aims to develop students’ hands-on ability. The content mainly includes the training of the basic experimental skills such as the extraction, separation and identification of different types of chemical constituents in Chinese medicines.
BPAZ0012 Analytical Chemistry (3 credits)
Analytical Chemistry is the science of studying the chemical composition and analytical methods of material. This course includes chemical analysis and instrumental analysis. Chemical analysis mainly introduces classical methods of chemical analysis and electrochemical analysis methods; while instrumental analysis mainly about the analysis methods about chromatographic and spectral.
BPAZ0013 Analytical Chemistry - Laboratory (1.5 credits)
Analytical Chemistry - Laboratory, a supplement with analytical chemistry, is an experimental course aiming to develop the practical ability of students. Mainly includes gravity analysis, acid-base titration, complexing equilibrium and titration, redox titration, ultraviolet-visible spectrometry, infrared spectrometry, thin layer chromatography, column chromatography, liquid chromatography, gas chromatography, and mass spectrometry, etc.
BPAZ0014 Immunology & Microbiology (3 credits)
This course aims to introduce the immune system of human and essential microbiology, and some of the diseases caused by dysfunction of this system, including the rheumatic diseases (e.g. muscle, bone and body joint disease). This course introduces pathogenesis of autoimmune diseases and related immunological regulation, and the research progress of immunology. In addition, there is a section for explaining the principle and concept of the biological classes relationships those are interacted in the microorganism and human, and diseases caused by cell parasites, helminthes and flukes.
BPAZ0015 Pathological Physiology (3 credits)
"Pathophysiology" is one of a theoretical course that delivers basic medical knowledge to the students; it also serves as a bridge that links basic medicine and clinical courses. Its mission is to study the general law and mechanisms of disease occurrence, investigate the dynamic changes of metabolism and its mechanism in the whole progression of disease development, reveal the law of disease occurrence, development and prognosis, clarify the nature of disease, and provide a theoretical basis for disease prevention and treatment.
BPAZ0016 Medical Statistics (2 credits)
This course teaches students to use probability and mathematical statistics to collect, collate, analysis and inference data in medical research field. The methods of thinking and analysis not only serve as a tool for medical research to solve practical problems in medicine, but also to help medical workers to open up new ideas and research areas, and make the research more scientific and reasonable, help medical workers choose the right statistical method to analysis data and give a correct explanation basic on the analysis results. Through the study of the course, students develop comprehensive analysis, independent thinking ability and practical operation ability; lay a good foundation for medical research and practical work in the future.
BPAZ0017 Pharmacology & clinical pharmacy I - Fundamental Pharmacology
(6 credits)
This course introduces the study of the interaction principle between drugs and human body, and bridges the gap between the basic and clinical medicine, as well as medicine and pharmacy. Upon completion, students should be able to place major drugs into correct therapeutic categories and identify indications, side effects, and trade and generic names. The students will be qualified pharmacists with the capability to find, analyze, summarize and solve the problems after study the course.
BPAZ0018 Pharmacology Laboratory (1.5 credits)
Pharmacological Experiments is a practical course which is one of necessary components of Basic Pharmacology. The course helps the students to obtain the basic experimental skills and validate the important basic theory of pharmacology, which will improve the understanding of the students about pharmacological concept.
BPAZ0019 Pharmacology & Clinical Pharmacy II - Toxicology & Drug Abuse (6 credits)
This course introduces the basic concepts of toxicology and knowledge on safe use of drugs. The course will introduce the potential pathological changes that may occur during the use of clinical drugs in the treatment or prevention of diseases. In addition, the course will also introduce the possible irreversible damage, lethal effects or poisoning characteristics that may happen during drug usage. Besides, the mechanisms responsible for the toxic effect of drugs would also be discussed. From the scientific point of view, students will be trained to make in-depth and interdisciplinary thinking, and are able to work independently in the field of pharmacy.
BPAZ0020 Pharmaceutics(6 credits)
This course will teach the students theory and design of drug preparation, as well as its quality control and rational applications. The main content includes basic theory of pharmaceutical formulations, their design principles and quality control. It also introduces the concept and characteristics of the various pharmaceutical formulations, and their preparation procedures. This course is highly important for the students engaged in pharmaceutical preparation research, production and management.
BPAZ0021 Pharmaceutics laboratory (1 credit)
Pharmaceutics lab is an important experimental course closely integrated with the pharmaceutics course. It provides basic technical training for pharmaceutical formulations preparations (including solution, injection, capsules, pills, suppositories, etc.) and relevant quality control. In this course, the students will also study to prepare some new pharmaceutical formulations (such as microcapsules, liposomes, etc.), and understand the related quality control, stability and drug dissolution profiles. This course will be highly important for students engaged in pharmaceutical preparation, drug test, research and development.
BPAZ0022 Medicinal Chemistry (3 credits)
This course explores the chemical structures, stability, metabolism, synthesis and the structure-activity relationship of drugs, and the approaches of drug discovery and development. It provides the students with the basic chemical theories for clinical rational drug use, the basic chemical knowledge for the drug test, drug form selection, pharmaceutical process, storage and so on, and the methods for new drug discovery and development.
BPAZ0023 Medicinal Chemistry laboratory (1 credits)
This is a practical professional course of Medicinal Chemistry to develop the students’ experimental capability. Students obtain the skills in drug synthesis from the designed experiments, which are applicable for medicinal chemistry-related works.
BPAZ0024 Pharmaceutical Analysis (3 credits)
Pharmaceutical analysis is one of the compulsory courses for college students majoring in pharmacy. This course focus on the specialized knowledge of the analytical techniques used to authenticate and quantitatively determine chemical drugs and natural products, as well as to detect the pharmaceutical preparation and the physicochemical properties. Students need to understand the concept of drug quality control, the related techniques, and fundamentals of management theory in China. In addition to studying the theory of analytical techniques, students will know more about their applications in pharmaceutical industry and clinic including pharmaceutical manufacturing, research and development, which will further your career in the public service. BPAZ0025 Pharmaceutical Analysis laboratory (1 credit)
This course aims to gain practical skills in the specialised area of pharmaceutical analysis. It aims to introduce drug quality research and the theory and the experimental skills of drug quality control, which will help students understand how to perform experiment design and solve practical problems. Students can learn a lot about several analytical methods including basic principles, instruments, advantages (sensitivity, accuracy, specificity and repeatability) and limitations from pharmaceutical analysis experiments and gain key professional skills, including good measurement and scientific practice and evaluation interpretation of data. Finally, students can select appropriate strategies for analytical research and development according to the physicochemical properties and chemical structures.
BPAZ0026 Management of Pharmaceutical Affairs (2 credits)
Management of Pharmaceutical Affairs aims to introduce the students to the basic concepts in the management of pharmaceutical affairs, the legislation of drug administration in Macau and the Mainland of China, the international drug administration policies, the management of drug registration, identifiers, advertisement, management of pharmacist, management of pharmaceutical affairs in major countries, so as to teach students to analyze and distinguish various pharmaceutical affairs. This course will teach the students to apply the knowledge of this course as well as knowledge and technologies learned in other basic courses in analyzing the various pharmacy phenomena and problems in the practice of CMM.
BPAZ0027 Intelligent Nano Drug Delivery System(1 credit)
This course will teach the students the latest development of intelligent nano drug delivery system. The main content for this course includes intelligent drug concept, classification, design principles, preparation methods, drug carrier, and clinical applications. This course will be useful for students engaged in pharmaceutics research work.
BPAZ0028 Pharmacology & Clinical Pharmacy III - Clinical Pharmacology & Pharmacotherapeutics (6 credits)
This course is an interdisciplinary subject that combines clinical pharmacology, pharmacology and therapeutics. It mainly introduces students to the basic concepts and common laws related to clinical drug therapy, including the general principles of drug treatment, the basic process of drug treatment, adverse drug reactions, drug interactions, diseases, special populations and genetic polymorphisms of clinical drug Impact, evidence-based medicine and drug treatment and so on. This paper focuses on how to choose drugs and how to use drugs, including evaluation of efficacy and medication precautions in various disease states, so that students master the development and implementation of rational individualized treatment regimen, safe and effective, economical and rational drug treatment.
BPAZ0029 Biopharmaceutics & Pharmacokinetics (3 credits)
This course contains biopharmaceutical and pharmacokinetic. Biopharmaceutics mainly include the nature definition, characteristic regularity, influencing factor and regulation method of the absorption, distribution, metabolism and excretion process of various drugs and various dosage forms in the body. These aim to clarify the interrelation among dosage form factors, biological factors and drug efficacy. The purpose of the biopharmaceutical is to correctly evaluate the quality of pharmaceuticals, design reasonable dosage forms, prescription and production process for clinical rational use of drugs to provide a scientific basis for drugs to perform the best therapeutic effect. The principles of dynamic kinetics and mathematical treatment are used in Pharmacokinetics in order to introduce the concept, characteristics, pattern, influencing factor, regulation methods of absorption, distribution, metabolism and excretion of drugs, dosage forms and drug delivery systems in physiological milieu and their implications for pharmaceutical care. This course will teach pharmacokinetic concepts, parameters, compartmental models and methods to calculate pharmacokinetics parameters. Biopharmaceutics is closely related to the design, manufacturing and clinical use of the medicine.
BPAZ0030 Lecture of Frontier Pharmacy (3 credits)
This course is aimed at training students to carry out a scientific research with a macroscopical vision and innovative ability. This course mainly teach students the forefront of pharmaceutical science and development direction, including combinatorial chemistry and drug leader discovery, computer-aided drug design, exploring the application of natural medicine chemistry with a new perspective, drug analysis methods based on integration analysis technology in pharmaceutical research, chiral drugs and chiral techniques, drug informatics, group technology and research of targeted drug delivery system and so on. The purpose of this course is to let students master the Cutting-edge technology and development direction of pharmaceutical research, as well as help students obtain a macro and a strategically advantageous perspective to understand the pharmaceutical research.
BPAZ0031 Clinical Pharmaceutics (3 credits)
This course is aimed for training students working in the pharmacy department in the hospitals. The main content for this course is to introduce the recent progress of hospital pharmacy work, including hospital pharmacy management, hospital drug supply, and clinical pharmaceutical service. It will teach the students to understand hospital pharmacy management, hospital pharmaceutical preparations, hospital drug procurement and storage management, clinical pharmacy, pharmacy consulting service, social pharmacy, and drug information services. This course is highly important for the students working in the hospital pharmacy department.
BPAZ0032 Computer Aided Drug Design (3 credits)
The course of computer aided drug design (CADD) is focused on the methodology and applications of CADD and introduces the basic knowledge of CADD method such as the basic theory of drug actions, the basic concept and methods as well as the applications of CADD, the introduction to the software used in CADD etc. The course will also gives important information to the students about the most recent principles and theories together with their potential applications in modern drug research and development. After learning this course, the students will have a solid background in their future scientific research works relevant to new drug research and development.
BPAZ0033 pharmacy & the healthcare system (3 credits)
The division objective is to let the students know the relevant policy about professional, economy, history and public policy in medicine and health care, including some expected adjustment policy and the role of pharmacists. It clears the pharmacist in the health care provide services related to drug treatment, achieves the exact effect on improving patient quality of life. Curriculum is divided into five chapters, respectively introduce the history and the composing of the health care system, health economics and health care, economics of managed health care, pharmaceutical industry and medicine, the role of pharmacists in health care.
BPAZ0034 Clinical Laboratory Science (3 credits)
Clinical Laboratory Science, based on clinical diagnosis and basic medicine, together with clinical station, systemically introduces how to connect clinical hematology, clinical chemistry, molecular biology, clinical immunology, clinical pathogen biology, clinical genetics, clinical cytology, and drugs the provocative with disease etiology, condition, treatment and prognosis. Based on clinical laboratory science, we can provide an objective perspective for experiment results, analysis of the disease, and development of the disease, ensuring rational clinical use of drugs.
BPAZ0035 Epidemiology (3 credits)
"Epidemiology" is a discipline that study disease distribution and its associated influencing factors to explore the law of epidemic disease development, and it aims to develop scientific strategies on disease prevention, control and eradication. The course not only deliver knowledge on the prevention and control of major infectious diseases, but also offer knowledge of non-communicable diseases, especially chronic diseases, such as heart and cerebrovascular disease, malignancy, diabetes and injury etc. Therefore, as an important discipline of preventive medicine, this course plays an important role in training students the awareness of general health.
BPAZ0036 Pharmacy Practice I (3 credits)
Pharmacy Practice I will be held during the summer vacation of the 2nd year or on other days that approved by the University. The internship base will cover the local and overseas hospital pharmacies, community pharmacies, pharmaceutical enterprises and research institutes. Pharmacy Practice I is an early pharmacy internship, aims to help students get a preliminary understanding of the scope of the pharmacy which includes pharmaceutical preparations, drug production, quality control, drug use supervision, drug trade and regulations, etc., to enhance students' interest in pharmacy.
BPAZ0037 Pharmacy Practice II (3 credits)
Pharmacy Practice II will be held during the summer vacation of the 3th year or on other days that approved by the University. The internship base will cover the local and overseas hospital pharmacies, community pharmacies, pharmaceutical enterprises and research institutes. Pharmacy Practice II services for community pharmacies, aims to illustrate students’ basic conceptions of a pharmacist’s elementary tasks and a pharmacy’s primary service functions.
BPAZ0038 Pharmacy Practice III (6 credits)
Pharmacy Practice III as a thematic internship conducted during the summer vacation of the fourth semester or other days with university approval. Students can choose to work under the guidance of professors, get engaged in a professional field of scientific research. The available professional fields include pharmacology, modern pharmaceutical preparations, drug quality analysis, combination of Chinese and Western medicine, molecular pharmacology and other areas. The project aims to help the students to apply the knowledge they have learned to practical experiments through the specific research work of thematic design, literature search, experiment operation and data analysis, and to establish rigorous scientific research attitude and skills to further improve the ability of using knowledge to solve problems.
BPAZ0040 Pharmacy Practice IV (30 credits)
Pharmacy Practice IV is the pharmacy probation and therefore a very important practical teaching and special stage in pharmacy specialty training program, it is the extension and expansion of the classroom teaching such as pharmacology, pharmacy, drug analysis, pharmacochemistry, toxicology, clinical pharmacy and other courses, and it is an important way for students to get into clinical practice out of campus. This Practice include hospital pharmacy internships, clinical pharmacy internships, community pharmacy internships, and other internships related to the scope of pharmacy practice, while internship locations include hospital clinical departments, community pharmacies, drug testing institutes, and other pharmacy practice place. Students can choose to practice with institutions by their own, or by the university’s arrangements. During the practice, institutions and universities will assess student internships. Through internship, students understand the operation of pharmacy management and related pharmacy knowledge, increase perceptual knowledge, consolidate and enrich the professional basic theory and practical skills, increase basic theory knowledge and skill of the drug circulation and applying field. This course teaches students ability of theory with practice, independent observation, analysis and problem-solving and thus enhances social adaptability.

BPAE0001 Alimentary Therapeutics of Traditional Chinese Medicine (2 credits)
This course aims to introduce the essential theory and knowledge of nutriology & dietotherapy of Chinese medicine. The curriculum is divided to three sections. Section one introduces the essential theory and knowledge (e.g. concept, content, characteristic, development history, function of food and applications). The second section is about the origins, aliases, flavor and meridian tropisms, functions, applications and modern research of food. The final section introduces the species of food used in Chinese medicine (e.g. the traditional medical food in life and clinical).
BPAE0002 Medical Ethics (2 credits)
Medical ethics originates from the special nature of doctor - patient relationship in medical work. This subject is an interdisciplinary subject of medicine and ethics. The purpose of this course is to help students to understand and solve the problems of good and evil in the behavior of doctor-patient relationship in medical and health work through the study of the theory and principles of ethics. This course will introduce ethics, which is the philosophy of moral research. Through this course, students learn that morality is the faith and value of good and evil in human behaviors, embodied in the rules or standards of human behaviors. The course can inspire students reflect on the moral, analysis human behavior rules or guidelines, and help students to solve the moral problems caused by different values conflicts in the medical work.
BPAE0003 Development of New Products from Chinese Medicines (3 credits)
This course aims at developing new products from the Chinese medicines through the usage of Chinese medicine theory and modern multi-disciplinary knowledge and technology. This course introduces the process of research and developing new products of Chinese medicines, including topics, prescription, preparation process, pilot production, quality standards, stability studies, pharmacodynamics and mechanism studies, toxicology evaluation, clinical research, product registration declaration, etc. Case studies and the introduced of principal technical requirements as well as students participate in experimental design of the interactive teaching form are also involved in this course. In addition, this course also includes the status of the pharmaceutical industry and development trends, data analysis, intellectual property protection, etc.
BPAE0004 Health Care in Chinese Medicine (3 credits)
This course bases on traditional Chinese medicine, adopting various treatments for instance mental adjustments, reasonable diets, physical exercises, acupuncture and massage therapies, oral drugs, medicated bathes and entertainments, in order to reduce illness, maintain our body, keep healthy and extend our life. Also these treatments aim to recuperate the declines and obstacles of body function which caused by congenital or acquired factors, thus improve the quality of life for the invalid. Students are supposed to master the basic methods of health maintenance and rehabilitation, and apply in practice to benefit ourselves and others.
BPAE0005 Authentication of Chinese Medicines (4 credits)
This subject is a compulsory course of CMM. Authentication of Chinese Medicines is based on inherit of the traditional identification, and theory and technical of natural science. Theory with practice and modern teaching methods will be carried out for a comprehensive system of teaching. This course introduces the basic knowledge and skills of Chinese medicines, such as source, producing area, collection and production, character identification, microscopic identification and physical and chemical identification. This course aims to equip students with the ability of analysis and identify the quality (true, false, excellent and bad) of Chinese medicines as well as solve practical problems independently. Teaching will focus on enhancing the understanding of students about the development of standardized quality standards for Chinese medicines and theoretical knowledge and practical problems in the process of developing new drugs.
BPAE0006 Molecular Pharmacology(3 credits)
This course aims to let students understand the basic knowledge and research progress of molecular pharmacology, so as to develop student’s fundamental basis in the pharmaceutical chemistry and pharmacology research and new drug development. The study content includes basic molecular pharmacology, for examples, signal transduction, ligand-receptor, ion channel, apoptosis, ischemia-reperfusion injury, reactive oxygen species, monoclonal antibody application. Also, the theory and research progress of drug metabolism, neuropharmacology, cardiovascular pharmacology, anti-inflammatory immune pharmacology, endocrine pharmacology, tumor pharmacology, anti-microbial pharmacology and others.
BPAE0007 Medical Jurisprudence (3 credits)
Interaction and integration of medicine and jurisprudence is based on the practice in maintenance of human life, health and dignity and gives birth of medical jurisprudence. The value of nature science and social science interaction is to provide thesis the practical basis for solving conflict and achieve harmony between doctors and patients. This course mainly introduces the contents and methods of medical subject law (physician and medical institution), medical behavior law (medical litigation and medical appraisal) to students, and focuses on the core of medical law concepts and basic theory, so as to cultivate complex application talent with both the medical and technical skills and the knowledge and skills.
BPAE0008 Guidance on Licensed Pharmacist Examination(3 credits)
This exam training course is to guide students to participate in licensed pharmacist examination.
