The 22nd Sino-Luso International Medical Forum in Macau from November 30th – December 1st will be hosting special scientific forum in digestive endoscopy diagnostic and therapeutic technique.

This weekend’s courses we will have medical professionals from Portugal, Sweden, Chinese mainland, Hong Kong and Macau SAR. They will be presenting the latest research in a range of new areas in endoscopy to reach their particular goal and to improve knowledge especially to educate for those aiming to deliver excellence in clinical practice.

The President of Sino-Luso International Medical Forum, Professor Manson Fok, Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences at Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST), comments, “We look forward to receiving our leaders from the Chinese ministry of health, health human resources development centre, a strong delegation from Beijing Air Force General Hospital, Wuhan Unions Hospital, the PLA’s 2nd Military Medical University and Shanghai’s Jiaotong University. They will showcase many excellent presentations which confirmed their great experience with minimally invasive techniques.”

Prof Gunnar Ahlbert, Treasurer of European Association of Endoscopy Surgery comments “We are very much looking forward to our three full days programs in Macau. We hope that this conference will provide us with opportunities to deepen our exchanges with other participants. We also trust it will be a very productive week.”

Capsule Endoscopy expert, Prof Miguel Mascarenhas from Portugal remarks, “During this forum, I am very much looking forward to meeting with the Chinese expert Prof Ge Zhizheng in capsule endoscopy and to share the knowledge on a number of actual capsule endoscopy aspects, for example indications, small bowel diseases and image interpretation.” Prof. Mascarenhas further comments, “I will be sharing my experience with medical providers in Macau particularly in recommendations developed by the experts in how to manage patients who have incomplete colonoscopy, inflammatory bowel disease such as Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis.”

To explore commonalities as well as variances both between and among the various countries, this will further encourage up-to-date approach to gastroenterology staff in operation theatre and surgeons. As we are taking on this ever-changing world, improving communication between our practicing digestive endoscopy and surgeons is crucial so that we could maintain good practice standards. This exciting forum will forge further links with Europe and Asia.

Other expert panelists from Hong Kong include Prof. Anthony Teoh, Prof. James Lau, Prof Daniel Tong as well as the current Vice President of Hong Kong College of Surgeons, Prof Edward Lai and past president Prof Samuel Kwok.

Local Macau medical educators will also present in this forum. They include Dr. Jeffrey Chu and Dr Li Mo Fong, Dr Zhan de Juan, Dr. Chiang Hoi Wan and Dr Leung Ki.

This event is supported by the new National Health and Family Planning Commission, PRC, The Chinese Medical Doctors Association, as well as a list of outstanding healthcare organizations and Portuguese speaking associations in Macau.
