29th Sino-Luso International Medical Forum
The 29th Sino-Luso International Medical Forum titled, “Dermatology Aesthetics, Laser Medicine and Surgery Summit” took place on 30th and 31st of January 2016 in Macau. Top specialists from around the world presented on the latest developments in For example, Saturday, January 30th, featured workshops led by Dr. Kevin Lee on Chemical Peel. Dr. Lee, who worked with this issue for many years in the United Kingdom, commented, “Chemical peels are an effective treatment for solar lentigos and age spots, and other pigmentation of the face and hands. We will go through these topics during our workshop and will demonstrate various protocols associated with the different types of acids. We will also give instruction in performing micropeel techniques.” Dr. Manson Fok, President of the Sino-Luso International Forum, noted, “I am very proud of our keynote speakers. They are bringing new ideas, the latest techniques, their passion, and commitments of many specialties. More importantly, they are bringing the concerns of every patient in this region.” Dr. Fok continued, “Our objectives in this forum are to identify the issues and bridge existing gaps and challenges in dermatological diagnosis and therapeutics in Macau which may be translated to better clinical care.” Presenting in this important forum is one of our staunch supporters, Dr. Hau Kwun-Cheung. For this coming forum, Dr. Hau commented, “We will be sharing some of the latest procedures about laser and light therapies in our presentations and provide guidance for a lifetime of healthy skin. As a dermatologists we are advising the healthcare sector about some of the most important issues about skin care and to know how to examine and treat patients in a way that puts them at ease.” Dr. Fok said, “It is exceedingly overwhelming for us to have so many doctors and nurses in the industry attend this forum, as well as medical trainees. Macau’s frontline healthcare providers have attended our previous workshops since 2011. It is also exciting to see that our local and regional experts are able to use this Sino-Luso international medical platform in Macau for exchanging new ideas and to explore.” Dr. Fok further remarked, “We are delighted at the level of commitment shown to date by our doctors. The Sino-Luso International Medical Forum events have provided a strong indication that our doctors and nurses are meeting regularly in ensuring good quality information delivers real benefits to the local community.” Aimed at improving medical training for Macau's healthcare providers, the academic programs of this forum are chaired by the Faculty of Health Sciences, Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST) and organized by the Macau Healthcare Management and Promotion Association (MHMPA). They are supported by the Henry Fok Foundation of Macao, the Dr. Stanley Ho Medical Foundation, the 2.6 million members Chinese Medical Doctors Association in China, and the National Health and Family Planning Commission (Formerly Ministry of Health) of the People’s Republic of China.
