This three-day event of workshops and symposiums features leading scientists, surgeons, and policy-makers from around the world to further train front-line healthcare providers in the Asia-Pacific region. Macau’s Prof. Manson Fok, president of forum, said, “We will be inviting a strong medical team from the Kingdom of Cambodia. It’s very important that this up and coming Asian country is being recognized as a respectable and valuable partner for Macau and mainland China. As their medical industry has been growing rapidly in the past few years, there has never been a better time to bring all their top medical professionals and leaders together.” Prof. Fok adds, “The programs provide a cooperative framework for government-to-government interaction with healthcare leaders’ participation. Dr. Zhang Junhua, China’s Deputy Director of Health Human Resources of National Health and Family Planning Commission (Formerly Ministry of Health) will attend this important meeting to discuss exchange programs and missions to Cambodia for Chinese partners and government officials. Dr. Zhang will participate in discussions with Union Youth Federations of Cambodia. Collaborating on healthcare issues of mutual benefit strengthens the bilateral relationship between Cambodia and China.” Comments Dr. Billy Chan, Vice President of Forum, “The core priority of the conference is also to connect with our youth. Opportunities also exist for our young Macau doctors and nurses to talk to with experts face-to-face, connect with VR simulation training options, and interact with their peers to benefit their day-to-day profession.” Dr. Chan adds, “This event’s series of workshops and discussions will offer practical, insights and hands-on solutions, particularly in the area of Cerebral Intervention, Ischemic Stroke Management, Cardio Stenting, Hernia Repair, Trauma Life Supports and Robotic Surgery.” During the presidential dinner, we will feature two high caliber speakers, including Her Excellency Ms. Yim Chhay Line, Honorary President of Union of Youth Federations of Cambodia (UYFC) will be presenting the topic “Youth and Health”. A high profile figure in Kingdom of Cambodia, she is the daughter of Deputy Prime Minister H.E. Yim Chhay Ly and Chairman of the Council for Agricultural and Rural Development (CARD). H.E. Yim is married to H.E. Hun Many, son of Prime Minister Hun Sen. H.E. Ms Yim Chhay Line has been involved in many active charities, especially in the prevention of sexual trafficking in Cambodia. She has been working tirelessly to emancipate girls and women from slavery of the flesh. She is also a champion of helping homeless, and giving free medical services and treatment for thousands of orphans and disabled children. Her holistic approach to charity ensures the children have shelter, a family unit of support, medical care, nutrition, and access to education. Another special presenter for the presidential dinner is the Honorable Sokkung Heng, Secretary of State, Ministry of Industry, Kingdom of Cambodia. The Honorable Heng is a medical doctor and also the current President of Doctors Alliance of UYFC. He has made utmost efforts to network with other healthcare leaders in the region with a special endeavor to promote national and regional healthcare services and social welfare. The Hon. Heng was a speaker of the high level policy dialogue in Bali in 2008, from 2005-2008. The Hon. Heng was also a top negotiator for ASEAN in formulating Free Trade Agreements with the People’s Republic of China, South Korea, Australia, and New Zealand. He has been engaged as a keynote speaker in Asian Development Bank Forums. Hon. Heng recently addressed the forum for United Nations-ESCAP in March 2016 in the First High Level follow up dialogue on Financing for development in the Asia Pacific region. Moreover, the Hon. Heng was joined in this endeavor in South Korea by leaders from 42 countries and many UN agencies presided over by the Under Secretary General of the United Nations and the Deputy Prime Minister of South Korea. Special Guests to attend this important dinner include: Government officials, diplomats, healthcare leaders, academicians and business leaders from the Philippines, Kingdom of Cambodia, Australia, the United Kingdom, the USA, Portugal, Belgium, Israel, Hong Kong & Macau and Mainland China. A Memorandum of Understanding between Faculty of Health Sciences, Macau University of Science and Technology and Doctor Alliance of Union of Youth Federation of Cambodia will be signed by Prof. Manson Fok, Dean of Faculty and Her Excellency and Ms Linda Yim as part of a special signing ceremony held in conjunction with the Welcome Reception of Presidential Dinner on Friday, 13 May 2016 at the MGM Vista Room.
