In order to enhance young students' understanding of the functions of the Political Consultative Conference (PCC), the Macao Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference hosted the "Political Consultative Conference Experience Day" at the Macau University of Science and Technology on 19th October 2024. The aim of this event was to give PCC members the opportunity to help young students gain insights into the superiority of the socialist system with Chinese characteristics and the framework of the country's basic political system, thereby strengthening their sense of national identity and belonging.
The outstanding students from different universities in Macao were invited to participate in this event. At the event, PCC members explained the procedure and related details of the PCC meetings. Following this, students engaged in interactive group discussions and learned how to draft and submit a proposal.
The Faculty of Medicine sent Assistant Professor Io Nam Wong to lead ten excellent medical students at the event. The medical students presented innovative proposals on two main topics: first, "how to strengthen young people's patriotism and love for Macao, develop their senses of mission and community"; and second, "how to align with the 1+4 economic development direction of Macao SAR government, promote the development of the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin, and help Macao young people better integrate into the national development landscape." Their proposals received a positive response from the participating PCC members.
Through this event, the medical students not only deepened their understanding of the PCC but also actively participated in discussions about national development, demonstrating the sense of responsibility and mission of the new generation of young people. We hope that this experience will inspire more young people to care about national affairs and get involved in social development.
