The Faculty of Medicine, with help from the Admissions Office, hosted an engaging Information Day for its Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) program on 26th October at 9:30am, welcoming 30 students and teachers from Sacred Heart Canossian College (English section) and School of the Nations. This initiative aimed to provide attendees with an insightful look into the field of medicine, showcasing the practical and academic experiences awaiting students at MUST.
The event commenced with a warm welcome from Professor Manson Fok, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, who emphasized the importance of nurturing future medical professionals and highlighted MUST's commitment to providing world-class medical education in Macau. Following the Dean's introduction, Assistant Dean Professor Daniel Baptista-Hon presented an overview of the MBBS program, detailing the rigorous curriculum and training that prepare students for a career in medicine. Attendees then embarked on a guided tour of the Faculty, explored the state-of-the-art simulation facilities and met members of the teaching faculty.
The highlight of the Information Day was a series of interactive workshops. These workshops were led by Faculty members, technical colleagues and current MBBS students. They allowed participants hands-on experience in essential clinical skills (such as CPR) and also experience our teaching methods in disciplines such as anatomy, histopathology and microbiology.
The event concluded with a networking session organized by the FMD Student Union and the Asian Medical Student Association (AMSA) Macau Chapter, where attendees engaged in activities with current medical students. Professor Laurence Lok delivered closing remarks, encouraging students to pursue careers in healthcare and underscoring the Faculty’s commitment to fostering compassionate and skilled medical professionals. All our guests received a souvenir bag and a copy of our monograph which describes the story of the establishment of the first medical school in Macau.
