Exhibition Venue
The exhibition was guided by Assistant Professors Simon Wing-Fai Mok and Io-Nam Wong and featured participation from over 150 second- to fifth-year undergraduate medical students enrolled in the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) program. These students took part in the "Medical Ethics, Humanities, and Law" course over three weeks. The course integrates arts and humanities into medical education, using various art forms—literature, poetry, drama, performance arts, and visual arts—to enhance skills in discerning nuances, sensitivity to language, understanding patient narratives, and improving clinical communication and observational skills. It also provided students with insights into four critical aspects of medicine: the doctor-patient relationship, self-awareness as a physician, relationships with colleagues, and the doctor’s role in society.
The two professors hoped that by encouraging medical students to create and appreciate personal artistic works, students would enhance their self-awareness, sharpen their observational skills related to visual analysis, touch, and shape, and improve their ability to express observations and make logical inferences. These skills would contribute to their holistic development, enabling them to better care for future patients.
