To strengthen academic and healthcare educational exchanges between Macau and Portuguese-speaking countries, a delegation from the Universidade Católica Timorense (UCT) visited the Faculty of Medicine at the Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST) from June 4 to 6. Led by Vice Rector and former Minister of Education Professor João Cancio Freitas, along with a cohort of faculty staff, 8 medical students participated in a three-day intensive medical clinical skills training course. The program aimed to enhance the students' practical clinical competencies, diagnostic skills and artificial intelligence (AI) awareness through a series of workshops.

During the three-day program, the Faculty of Medicine provided a tailored curriculum which included practical training in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), endoscopy, laparoscopic surgery and ultrasound evaluation training for trauma and pelvic examinations at the Medical Simulation Training Center. Delegates also received hands-on training using our Digital Anatomy Laboratory, and interactive sessions on clinical communication skills as well as AI in healthcare.

Professor Manson Fok, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, warmly welcomed the delegation and presented completion certificates to the students. This event marks the second iteration of our dedicated program for students from East Timor, and underscores MUST’s unwavering commitment to fostering educational exchanges between Macau and Portuguese-speaking countries. It also highlights the university's ongoing efforts to promote cross-border collaboration and enhance the overall standard of medical education across the region. A similar exchange model has successfully taken place over the past few years in close collaboration with leading higher education institutions in Portugal.
