Come learn about the latest advances of cardiology technology in Macau. The 17th series of the Sino-Luso International Medical Forum presents a special 3-day event titled "Cardio ECHO meets Virtually Reality Technology." This exciting medial forum takes place from April 6-8, 2014, and is academically chaired by the Macau University of Science and Technology's Faculty of Health Sciences and organized by the Macau Healthcare Management and Promotion Association (MHMPA). We are very pleased to announce that Dr. Maria Joao Andrade, member of Education Committee of the European Society of Cardiology will be participating in our forum as one of our keynote speakers. Dr. Maria Andrade is joined by other leading experts in this field. Chief among them are: Dr. Andrew Smith from The Heart Hospital based in London, Dr. Adi Butnaru, a senior cardiologist from Jesselson Heart Center in Jerusalem; Dr. Chris Wong, the past President of Hong Kong College of Cardiology; and Dr. Alex Lee from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Many other overseas VR (virtual reality) simulation experts from Australia, Israel and the Netherlands will be bringing along their latest research findings to this symposium. Dr. Smith is passionate about this upcoming forum, commenting “I am eagerly looking forward to conduct the high quality TEE (Transesophageal Echocardiogram) and ECHO imaging workshop at the forum particularly in sharing information about cardio echo and cardiac procedures along with presenting my findings in The Heart Hospital in London.” Dr. Adi Butnaru comments, “The lectures and workshops will conclude with a focus on cardiac imaging procedures by using ultrasound and TEE. We will be deploying advanced simulation technologies for trainees to view high quality images of aorta, pulmonary artery, valves, atria and coronary arteries in providing vital information such as locating blood clot and other symptoms.” The purpose of all sessions is to improve the quality of current techniques in handling cardiovascular diseases. This will offer the participants, notably Macau's frontline healthcare providers, a comprehensive presentation of trends in relations to the latest developments of this very special field specifically patient safety, advanced imaging technologies and skills training. The panels will be presided over Dean of MUST's Faculty of Health Sciences, Prof. Manson Fok, and a strong team of Macau and Hong Kong experts in this field, including Dr. Mario Evaro, the President of the Macau Cardiology Association and Head of Cardiology Department at the Hospital Centre S. Januario. They will also provide an overview of the current approach in cardiovascular diseases here in Macau, and how to move towards international standards for the city. This meaningful event is supported by the Chinese Medical Doctors Association and National Health and Family Planning Commission, PRC as well as a list of outstanding healthcare organizations and Portuguese speaking associations here in Macau.
