On September 17, 2024, the Medical Sciences Division (MSD) hosted it’s first research seminar for this semester. The seminar, titled "Publishing with Nature Portfolio Journals," featured Dr. Mimmi Mononen, Associate Editor at Nature Communications. Dr. Mononen shared her expertise with an audience of researchers, faculty, and students, providing invaluable insights into the publication process for all journals within the Nature Portfolio.

Prior to the seminar, Dr Mononen visited the research facilities at the State Key Laboratory of Quality Research in Chinese Medicine and the MSD laboratories. Researchers at MSD also had the opportunity to meet with Dr. Mononen to explore potential publication opportunities for their work in Nature Portfolio journals. During the seminar, Dr. Mononen drew upon her extensive experience handling manuscripts, guiding attendees through the intricacies of manuscript preparation, submission strategies, and navigating the peer-review process. Her presentation emphasized best practices for increasing the visibility of research work. Dr. Mononen also shared her path to becoming an editor with our young researchers who are interested in a career of scientific publishing.
