MUST Medical Sciences Division Delegation Visits Fujian for the 15th Youth Summer Camp: "Gathering in Medicine, Visualizing the Future in Fujian"

The Medical Sciences Division (MSD) of the Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST) sent a delegation consisting of Assistant Professor Chu Man Tak, Assistant Professor Zhang Ruixue, and two medical students Iris Fung and Kuan Cheok In, to attend the 15th Youth Summer Camp, themed "Gathering in Medicine, Visualizing the Future in Fujian", from May 20 to 24. Hosted by Fujian Medical University to enhance friendship, academic exchange, and collaboration among institutions and students from the Chinese Mainland, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macao, the camp provided a platform where the MUST delegation conducted field visits to local healthcare systems and scientific research laboratories, engaging in academic exchanges and institutional promotion. The camp also provided a platform where they explored Fujian’s natural wonders and historical cultural heritage, experiencing firsthand the deep cultural roots and bonds shared across the regions.

The flag presentation ceremony marked the beginning of this event. During the academic exchange session, the MUST representatives introduced the various undergraduate and postgraduate programs offered by the MSD to the participating members and students. The attendees expressed keen interest in the rapid development, international vision, and curriculum system of medical education at MUST. The session was marked by enthusiastic interactions, showcasing the educational philosophy and research capabilities of MUST.

In terms of professional medical exchange, the MUST delegation engaged in field inspection and academic networking. The delegation visited research laboratories of Fujian Medical University and was cordially received by Professor Chen Xiaochun, Secretary of the CPC Committee of Fujian Medical University and a renowned neuroscience expert. Professor Chen shared his research insights on cutting-edge topics and future trends in the field of neuroscience. His perspectives inspired students from MUST.

The delegation also conducted site visits to the First Affiliated Hospital of Fujian Medical University (Department of Neurology) and the Affiliated Union Hospital (Departments of Anesthesiology and Gastroenterology) for clinical medical experience. Through these visits, they gained firsthand experience of Fujian Province’s healthcare delivery systems, clinical technologies, and modern hospital management models.

Beyond professional and academic exchanges, the delegation immersed themselves in Fujian's rich historical culture and natural heritage. The itinerary included visits to notable cultural landmarks and ecological sites, such as Mount Guanzhai, the ancient city of Changting, and the UNESCO World Heritage Tulou earth buildings. Students also engaged in hands-on experiences with traditional crafts at the Sibao Woodblock Printing Base and explored the innovation of National Intangible Cultural Heritage at the Pien Tze Huang Museum. The journey concluded at Pingtan’s scenic areas, allowing the delegation to experience firsthand the shared cultural roots and deep ties that bind compatriots across the regions, deepening their cultural appreciation.

The summer camp concluded successfully amidst joy, laughter, and warm interactions. This exchange not only demonstrated the teaching and research characteristics of the MSD, but also brought together higher education institutions across the Mainland, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macao. The event resonated with the visionary theme of "Gathering in Medicine, Visualizing the Future in Fujian," laying a more solid foundation for future cooperation between Fujian and Macao in medical education, clinical healthcare, and scientific research.
